Underline Science will produce and host the scientific content for the 24th biennial European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI 2020) from Monday, August 31 to Thursday, September 3, on Underline Science, the world’s first repository platform for cutting-edge scientific lectures, research, discussion and conference live streaming.

ECAI 2020, Europe’s premier artificial intelligence research forum, partnered with Underline after conference chairs determined the in-person meeting (which to be held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain) would not be possible due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

ECAI 2020, now Digital ECAI 2020, will feature a full program of technical papers, as well as AI-related events of interest for researchers, students and attendees interested in contemporary AI. More than 400 presentations will be featured, including 5 plenary talks, 374 oral presentations, including talks from the Prestigious Applications of Intelligent Systems Conference (PAIS), 36 posters, 4 invited talks in “Frontiers in AI," plus 31 workshops, 29 tutorials and the Women in AI meeting.

Starting AI researchers will be able to attend the Doctoral Consortium, Job Fair, Meeting with an EurAI Fellow, and the Starting AI Researcher Symposium (STAIRS). In addition, co-located events such as the Exhibits, Lab2Market, panels and others will be announced in the coming weeks on the new Digital ECAI 2020 website: Digital ECAI2020.

Through this partnership with Underline, Digital ECAI 2020 organizers are rebuilding the digital conference from the ground up, and will offer opportunities for debate, interaction and engagement for virtual attendees, with AI and social events tied to the rich cultural history of Santiago de Compostela and the Galicia region.

"This will be the first time this conference is held in a digital format in its almost 50 years of life, and it will be an historic event, with more content and participation than ever before,” said Senén Barro, President of the ECAI 2020 Organizing Committee and the Scientific Director of CiTIUS-Research Center in Intelligent Technologies of the University of Santiago de Compostela.

“By reorganizing ECAI 2020 as a virtual conference, we expect to reach thousands of AI specialists worldwide, from universities and companies, to entrepreneurs and investors, both public and private. The impact of Digital ECAI 2020 will be even greater than what we hoped to realize at the face to face congress in Santiago de Compostela.”

The scientific content including all live streams, presentations and lecture videos from ECAI 2020 will be available for viewing on Underline, along with slides, demos, abstracts and tutorials. With attendees joining the conference from around the globe and in different time zones, Underline’s platform maximizes both the scholarship, interactivity and networking opportunities for ECAI 2020.

Underline Science is the world’s only repository platform for cutting-edge scientific lectures, research, discussion and conference live-streaming. Underline’s online video platform is custom-built for scientific and academic events, and their Emmy Award-winning production team is aggregating and hosting conference content in both live and virtual environments, allowing presenters to reach new global audiences while also giving meeting attendees the ability to watch or re-watch any content during and after conferences.

Through a wide range of virtual, live streaming, interactivity and networking options for events, Underline answers the challenges associated with Covid-19, helping organizations deliver important content, research and presentations from conferences to their attendees and members. Underline’s mission is to digitize scientific knowledge through video, making it globally accessible and useful, by enriching and preserving conference content. Researchers can cite the lectures, share content, search technical papers, connect with the speakers and start collaborations.

“We are honored to partner with the ECAI chairs and organizers to host this important meeting on the Underline platform, and with no geographical barriers, we look forward to helping them expand their audience,” said Alex Lazinica, CEO of Underline Science. “Conferences and technical meetings are critical tools for scientists to learn about the latest breakthroughs and research. Science is a global discipline, and at Underline we are working to accelerate discovery in an open and connected world.”
