<h3>What is the American Anthropological Association?</h3>

<p>Founded in 1902, the American Anthropological Association is the world’s largest scholarly and professional organization of anthropologists. The Association is dedicated to advancing human understanding and applying this understanding to the world’s most pressing problems.</p>

<p>While 75 percent of our members are employed in higher education or are students of anthropology, about 25 percent of our members work in the public, private, and non-governmental sectors, beyond the academy. The Association is organized into 38 sections, each reflecting specialized domains of knowledge.</p>

<p>We publish a portfolio of 22 journals, offer career planning and professional development services, support college and university departments, award numerous prizes and fellowships, sponsor a paid summer internship program, and stage research conferences in the Fall and Spring each year.</p>

<p>The Association is proud to belong to a number of inter-organizational collaborations, including the World Council of Anthropological Associations, the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences, the Consortium of Social Science Associations, the National Humanities Alliance, and the American Council of Learned Societies.</p>

<p>The American Association for Crystal Growth was founded by a group of engineers and scientists who met to organize the First International Conference on Crystal Growth (ICCG-1) in Boston, MA, in 1966. The AACG was formally organized in 1969 and later (1974) incorporated in New Jersey as a non-profit organization. Drs. Kenneth A. Jackson and Robert A. Laudise of Bell Telephone Laboratories, who served as first Co-Presidents of AACG until 1975, provided early leadership.</p>

<h3>What is computational linguistics?</h3>

<p>Computational linguistics is the scientific study of language from a computational perspective. Computational linguists are interested in providing computational models of various kinds of linguistic phenomena. These models may be "knowledge-based" ("hand-crafted") or "data-driven" ("statistical" or "empirical"). Work in computational linguistics is in some cases motivated from a scientific perspective in that one is trying to provide a computational explanation for a particular linguistic or psycholinguistic phenomenon; and in other cases the motivation may be more purely technological in that one wants to provide a working component of a speech or natural language system. Indeed, the work of computational linguists is incorporated into many working systems today, including speech recognition systems, text-to-speech synthesizers, automated voice response systems, web search engines, text editors, language instruction materials, to name just a few.</p>

<p>Promote excellence in basic and clinical research in androgen excess that improves the detection and treatment of these disorders.</p>

<p>Serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas between professionals from different scientific and clinical backgrounds, striving to stimulate evidence-based studies that guide the management of these disorders.</p>

<p>Educate research-sponsoring agencies in the U.S. and elsewhere, either alone or in partnership with patient groups, regarding the importance, priorities, and need for funding of studies of androgen excess disorders.

<p>The original goal of Artificial Intelligence (AI) was to build ‘thinking machines’, but mainstream AI research has turned toward domain-dependent and problem-specific solutions; therefore it has become necessary to use a new name to indicate research that still pursues the “Grand AI Dream”. Similar labels for this kind of research include “Strong AI”, “Human-level AI”, etc.

In recent years, more and more researchers have recognized the necessity – and feasibility – of returning to the original goals of the field by treating intelligence as a whole. Increasingly, there is a call for a transition back to confronting the more difficult issues of “human-level intelligence” and more broadly Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

AGI research differs from ordinary AI research by stressing the versatility and wholeness of intelligence, and by carrying out the engineering practice according to an outline of a system comparable to the human mind in a certain sense.</p>
